Why a Women's College?

 

Requirements for the Major

Fulfill the requirements of a disciplinary major and 24 credits of Women's Studies coursework, including:

- WMS 148 Women, Gender and Power methodology course

- 18 additional credits of WMS coursework

- WMS 385 Women's Studies Seminar or independent study with a member of the Women's Studies faculty

- A final project of an interdisciplinary nature fulfilling three of the four women's studies objectives.

 

Seniors who have a cumulative index of 3.5 and a distinguished final project will be awarded departmental honors upon graduation.

 

Requirements for the Minor

The Women's Studies minor requires 18 credits in Women's Studies courses (WMS designations). It must include WMS 148 Women, Gender and Power and 15 additional credits not to include those used to fulfill the disciplinary major or minor.

A graduation prize in honor of Patricia Wismer ’71 is awarded annually to a graduating senior for outstanding work in the field of Women’s Studies.
