Admission
Any student who is interested in the social work major should contact a member of the social work faculty to discuss the program. Should she decide to pursue the social work major, a faculty member from the department will become her academic advisor. Social work majors must complete an application to the Social Work Program prior to the end of the first semester of their junior year. A grade point average of 2.0 or better is required for formal admission, and the student must receive a “C” or better in all required social work professional foundation course to remain in the Program. Occasionally a decision to admit or continue a student who has not met these requirements will be granted on a provisional basis. Granting of provisional status is a departmental decision.
Transfer Students
Students who are thinking of transferring to The College of New Rochelle (CNR) as social work majors should do the following:
- Request an application for admission to CNR.
- Make an appointment with a faculty member from the Social Work Department to discuss the program.
Transferring students who have taken social work courses in other schools prior to their admission to CNR must have these courses evaluated by their advisor. CNR’s Social Work Program has special transfer arrangements for students who have successfully completed the human services major at Westchester Community College (WCC) and several other area community colleges.
