The Study of Spanish
 
The Spanish Program introduces the contributions of Spanish and Spanish American culture and thought through language, literature and the arts. Students are encouraged to express themselves through conversation, writing and creative projects.

Major
The requirements for Spanish majors include the general requirements of the School of Arts and Sciences and some knowledge of a second foreign language is strongly recommended.

The major in Spanish consists of 36 credits earned in courses taken beyond the elementary level. SPA 101-102 Elementary Spanish does not count towards the major.

Students who elect Spanish as part of a double major may work out a special program in consultation with the department concerned.

Senior Thesis
Students who want to graduate with Honors in Spanish will have to complete a
thesis in the last semester of their senior year.
