Saturday, October 22: Lecture & Exhibit Education for Empire: Horace's Roman Odes at School by Dr. Julia Gaisser, Bryn Mawr; co-sponsors Free Library of Philadelphia & Classical Association of the Atlantic States, in Phildalphia, 2-5 pm, attended by Dr. Raia

Thursday, November 3: Interview: Dr. Andre Beauzethier, Chair of MCL, speaks about language learning on CNR's Faculty of the Month webpage.

Friday, November 11: VRoma workshops for Classics students conducted at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia by Drs. McManus and Raia, 8-11:30 am.

SPRING 2006

Sunday, January 1: Dr. Perez was a reader at the New Year's Poetry Marathon of the Bowery Poetry Club to raise funds for City Harvest.

January 8-13 : NYU Winter Institute "Re-imagining hawai'i' ", Chaminade University, Hawaii, Dr. Perez.

February 1-May 31: Dr. Perez is a volunteer mentor to teens in the PEN 2006 Writing Institute.

Sunday, February 19: Spanish Culture class trip to City Center performance of Antonio El Pipa, part of the World Music Institute Flamenco Festival, with Dr. Perez.

Monday, February 27: French students attended Writing Across the Continent: An Evening with Contemporary African Writers, co-sponsored by IRADAC, at the CUNY Graduate Center, with Dr. Beauzethier, 6:30-8 pm.

March 2-5: Dr. Segura-Rico attended the conference of the Northeast Modern Language Association as panel organizer, chair and discussant "Latin America and Beyond: New Approaches to the Literature of the Americas," Philadelphia, PA.

Thursday, March 9: Feminine Archetype class guest lecture by Dr. McManus on Central Symbolism of the Feminine, MC 112, 1:50-3:13 pm.

March 15-17: Dr. Segura-Rico attended the international congress of the Latin American Studies Association where she presented a paper "Loida Maritza Perez's Geographies of Home: the chickens have come home to roost," San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Thursday, March 16: French students attended a lecture by Jean-Marc Pasquet, Haiti: Eden Ravished with Dr. Beauzethier in Manhattan, 7 pm.

Tuesday, March 21: French students attended The Women's History Month Panel A Woman President: What Does it Mean?, keynote speaker Dr. M. Snyder, with Dr. Beauzethier at Lehman College, CUNY, 6-8 pm.

Friday, March 24: Latin American Women's Literature class trip to the Schomburg Center to attend the forum tribute and reception, The Shabazz Conversations, 7 pm.

Saturday, March 25: MCL Workshop on classroom application of Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Dr. Beauzethier, Mooney Center, Room 160, 9 am-12:30 pm.

Thursday, March 30: Faculty Seminars in the Classics, talk by Prof. Carl Rubino, Hamilton College, Human Choices in an Uncertain Universe, 12:15-2, SCC, Room C.

Friday, March 31: the Elementary Latin class tour of the Greek and Roman collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC with Dr. Raia, 12:30-6 pm.

Wednesday, May 24: Hooding and Awards Ceremony in the Chapel, followed by a reception in Maura Ballroom, 4 pm.
