RAVE REVIEWS FOR LANE'S FROGS!

Originally Ancient Athens, Today it's New York!

De Felice writes: Lane has transformed the Greek comedy into a hilarious 21st Century burlesque ! Had me laughing the entire time, starting with his instructions about cell phones, the bungee jumping frogs, and jokes about Viagra and modern-day foreign policy. Although those frogs were meant to be society's villains -- scary with their disgusting sounds and slimy forms -- it was fun to watch their acrobatics.
Maxwell writes: A great Broadway actor named Nathan Lane decided to update Aristophanes' play and I am very grateful that he did! It made me feel like I was in Ancient Athens! Made me laugh until I could not laugh any more! No disrespect to Aristophanes, but Lane's version puts "The Frogs" into action with an extra oomph.
Dillett-Jones writes:The sexual innuendos were there with Virilla, the Amazon, an additional character who reminded me of Xena; Pluto was gay, dressed in purple. As in Aristophanes' original, Dionysos made comments about our political leaders. The biggest change is the fact that it's a musical -- from singing about the journey to Hades to singing about Ariadne, the songs had their own blend of comedy. Everything I read came to life!
Aladeselu writes: Nathan Lane's rendition of Aristophanes' "Frogs" is exceptional! His changes made the play more fascinating and humorous and showed how comedy is particular. The cast is not only very lively but keeps the audience wondering what will come next. This play is definitely for those who have the wit to catch the subtlety of the jokes. I would pay the money to see it again!

HADES is a HELL of a place at the Vivian Beaumont!
