Working for women's empowerment

UNIFEM was founded at the College of New Rochelle in January of 1999 by Dr. Anne McKernan and several International Studies students who wanted to promote awareness of gender inequality around the world. The founders of UNIFEM at CNR invited Margaret C. Snyder, Founding Director of UNIFEM and a CNR alum to start the chapter. Currently UNIFEM-CNR is applying for formal recognision by UNIFEM as an official chapter at the College of New Rochelle. The Enthusiasm for official chapter continues and application for official recognition is pending. We continued to strive to become a recognized organization because we understand that UNIFEM at CNR is a tiny entity of a bigger picture - the world.
