Gill Library offers
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Document Delivery (DD)
services to any patron with a valid CNR ID card to
obtain certain materials owned by another library
through
ILLiad, an electronic
Web-based document delivery service.
Before submitting
an Interlibrary Loan or Document Delivery request,
the patron should have thoroughly searched the
resources available in the Gill Library online
catalog and determined that the item(s) needed are
not in the Library’s collection. Interlibrary Loan
requests can takes weeks to fulfill and patrons are
encouraged to start their research early and consult
a Reference Librarian for assistance.
REQUESTS:
ILL and Document Delivery
requests are not accepted over the phone, by e-mail,
inter-office mail or by the Ask a Librarian web page.
All Interlibrary Loan and
Document Delivery requests are managed through
ILLiad. To access ILLiad, patrons must have
a valid CNR Network Account user name and password.
Patrons who do not have a valid CNR Network User
Account and have appropriate CNR ID can get a CNR
User Account by going to the Help Desk at the Mooney
Center, Gill Library Circulation Desk or at their
Branch Library. Once a username and password have
been established, patrons can begin to use ILLiad at
any computer on campus or via remote access.
Incomplete ILLiad electronic request forms can delay
the processing of the request.
A Reference Librarian
will be happy to assist in completing the form.
The Librarian may
also suggest to the patron resources available in
Gill Library that contain information the patron is
seeking.
Once the Librarian has
verified that the information on the electronic
ILLiad form is complete and correct, the electronic
ILLiad form is submitted to the ILL Department for
processing. Delivery time can vary depending on the
request. The usual time is normally from three (3)
days to three (3) weeks, but can be longer. The ILL
Department contacts the patron when the requested
item arrives.
The ILL Department makes
every effort to obtain requested items from
institutions that will not charge a fee. However,
patrons should indicate on the electronic request
form the amount they are willing to pay in case the
item cannot be obtained without charge.
LOAN PERIOD and RENEWAL
PERIOD:
The "due date" for ILL
materials, e.g., books and media items, is set by
the lending institution and is indicated on a slip
that accompanies the item when it is checked out to
the patron. The lending institution reserves the
right to recall their items at any time, and if this
occurs, the patron is notified to return the items
immediately.
A
three-week renewal period my be granted upon request
one time only by visiting the Library.
A renewal request may be denied if the lending
library recalls the item or if the patron has
already been granted one renewal. If the renewal
request is denied, the patron must return the item
immediately or may incur a fine.
