The
James Joyce Collection numbers over 300 volumes
and includes first editions and early printings
of nearly all of Joyce’s works, as well as many
early secondary studies of Joyce. The Collection
is especially rich in early and special editions
of Ulysses. Holdings also include a
significant number of first and signed early
editions of the works of Oliver St. John Gogarty.
The
Collection, inaugurated in 1992 with a single
generous donation of many fine books, has been
supplemented by significant gifts from other
donors and by important purchases of first and
unusual editions from funds from the Friends of
Gill Library and from the library’s Special Gift
Account.
The Collection is housed in the College Archives
and is accessible to qualified researchers by
appointment only. Appointments must be made in
advance (914-654-5349).
