On September 28, 2005, The College of New Rochelle hosted Sleep Out
2005, a night of “consciousness-raising
and advocacy,” sponsored by the Office of Campus Ministry and
Peacebuilders, the CNR Pax Christi Chapter, held on Maura Lawn.

Students, faculty members, and
friends of the College gathered on the
Main Campus of The College of New Rochelle for this unique “happening.”

Dale Williams, formerly homeless
himself and now Executive Director of
The Midnight Run, a volunteer organization that brings food to the
homeless in New York City, shared his personal story of what it is like
to live on the streets of America. Above: Dale posed with Helen
Wolf,
Director of Campus Ministry.

Members of the College Community
made temporary “homes for the night”
out of cardboard boxes, thereby experiencing for one night what the
homeless in America face every night. Above: (l.-r.) Danielle
Delancey SAS’09; Heather Wallace SAS’09, and Christina
Robles SN’09 were part of the Freshman Class that participated in the
event.
