GUY LOMETTI DEAN OF
ITS GRADUATE SCHOOL
NEW ROCHELLE, NY,
May 11, 2005 -- Dr. Stephen J. Sweeny, President of The College of New
Rochelle (CNR), today announced that Dr. Guy E. Lometti has been
appointed Dean of the Graduate School, effective July 1, 2005. He
will succeed Dr. Nancy Brown who is leaving after a 13-year career at
CNR.
“Dr. Lometti is a
highly experienced, committed educator,” said Dr. Sweeny. “His
excellent interpersonal skills, clear understanding of the
mission-driven nature of the College, and scholarly and
interdisciplinary background will inspire cooperation, confidence and
creativity in the faculty at the Graduate School.”
The founding Dean and Professor of the School of Communication and The
Arts at Marist College, Dr. Lometti has also served as Professor of
Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina
as well as Assistant Professor and Director of Research at West
Virginia University. He served as the Co-chair of Marist’s
Educational Programs and Curricula Committee for the College’s Middle
States 10-year re-accreditation. Dr. Lometti has also been
employed as Associate Director of Social Research for ABC Television
Network Group, Capital Cities/ABC, Inc., and as a United States Army
Aviator and Intelligence Officer. He is fluent in Spanish and
French.
Dr. Lometti was
graduated from The Citadel with a bachelor of arts in modern languages,
Queens College with a master of arts in communication, and from
University of Wisconsin-Madison with a doctorate in mass
communications.
The Graduate School was founded in 1969 as a regional professional
school educating men and women in the service professions as teachers
and administrators, counselors, school psychologists, gerontologists,
and art therapists. Today, the GS offers 25 certificate and master’s
degree programs in three divisions: Human Services, with programs in
Career Development, Guidance and Counseling, Gerontology, and
Community-School Psychology; Art & Communication Studies, with
programs in Art Education, Art Therapy, Studio Art, and Communication;
Education, with programs in Early Childhood Education, Creative
Teaching and Learning, Special Education, Literacy Education, School
Administration and Supervision, Multilingual/ Multicultural Education,
and Speech-Language Pathology.
