THE
COLLEGE OF NEW ROCHELLE HOSTS URSULINE INSTITUTE LECTURE
by Sister Pascal
Conforti ‘56 and Sister Maureen McCarthy ‘61
-
What does it mean to be a midwife in the
age of HIV/AIDS?
-
How does the medical experience change for
patients and health care professionals in the face of this often deadly
condition?
-
What can we do to better minister to those
who have HIV/AIDS?
Join us for an
enlightening discussion led by Srs. Maureen McCarthy and
Pascal Conforti, who will share highlights of their 2003 trip to
Bostwana,
where they were invited by an instructor at the Medical School
associated
with the national university in Botswana.
This lecture will be
an appropriate assignment for courses with a health-related,
sociological, or cross-cultural emphasis. Sr. Maureen McCarthy,
Director of Midwifery at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, and Sr.
Pascal Conforti, chaplain and Director of Mission Effectiveness at St.
Clare’s (now known as St. Vincent Midtown Hospital), have both
ministered to many persons affected with HIV/AIDS.
