ROCHELLE CELEBRATES
101st COMMENCEMENT
WITH CLASS OF 2008
The College of New Rochelle (CNR)
celebrated its 101st Commencement as it graduated the Class of
2008.
The College awarded 1,427 baccalaureate and masters
degrees
during commencement exercises on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Radio
City
Music Hall.
"Since CNR was founded
in 1904, our graduates have made valuable
contributions
throughout all segments of society,” said Stephen J. Sweeny, Ph.D.,
president
of CNR. “We are confident that this year's graduates will
continue
the fine tradition of service, integrity, and faith for which CNR
graduates
are known.”
This year’s Commencement
Address was given by Cardinal Oscar
Andrés
Rodríguez Maradiaga, S.D.B., Archbishop of Tegucigalpa,
Honduras. The College conferred honorary degrees on Cardinal
Rodriguez, Sister
Mary Antona Ebo, F.S.M.,
civil rights pioneer, and Emily
Kernan Rafferty, President of
the
Metropolitan Museum of Art.
