"My classmates come from all over,
and we all have had a
variety of life experiences. Some of us have been to college; some
haven’t. We are of different ethnic backgrounds, as well as of
different religions. Some of us are just out of high school; others
have had jobs and are coming back to school to change careers. It is
quite a United Nations in the School of Nursing. I have made great new
friends here at CNR. "

Where are
you from, Addisa?
I was born in
Santa Fe, New Mexico, but I grew up in New Rochelle.

Tell us something about your family?
I am a product of an interracial
marriage. My father is a holistic medical doctor and acupuncturist. My
mother is a certified nursing assistant. I have an older sister who
graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA in Dance and is
currently going to school for physical therapy at New York Medical
College. I also have a twin brother who teaches yoga and martial arts
and is going to school for acupuncture at the New York College of
Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Tell us about the nursing degree you are
getting.
I will be
getting my RN-BSN.

Before enrolling at The College New
Rochelle where did you study?
Before
enrolling at CNR I was at Westchester Community College. I graduated
with a liberal arts degree in social science.
|
What
surprised me most about CNR are the class sizes. Most are really small
so you get more individualized attention.
|

|

Why did you decide to return to school?
I decided to
return to school because I realized what career I wanted to get into.

What has surprised you the most about CNR?
What surprised me most about CNR are the
class sizes. Most are really small so you get more individualized
attention.

What is your favorite course?
My favorite
course so far is Pharmacology.

Do you have any favorite teachers?
My favorite teacher is Professor
Miccarelli. He is my
pharmacology teacher. He's great because his notes are very clear. He
speaks slowly so you're able to copy his notes. He has a great
sense
of humor, which is something I appreciate, especially early in the
morning. I look forward to his class.

What are your classmates like?
My classmates
come from
all over, and we all have had a variety of life experiences. Some of us
have been to college; some haven’t. We are of different ethnic
backgrounds, as well as of different religions. Some of us are just out
of high school; others have had jobs and are coming back to school to
change careers. It is quite a United Nations in the School of Nursing.
I have made great new friends here at CNR.

When do you expect to graduate?
I expect to
graduate in 2009.
