Roxanne Morrison
Class of 2006
Business/Economics Major
School of Arts & Sciences
The College of New Rochelle

Where are you from, Roxanne?

I am from Trinidad and Tobago but grew up in Staten Island, New York.

How did you hear about CNR?

I knew about CNR because my older sister also attended the college.

What other colleges did you consider and why did you pick CNR?

I transferred to CNR from another small, women’s college in upstate New York. I chose CNR the second time around because it was much closer to home and the city and because I was already used to being in small classrooms and having a close relationship with my professors.

What is your major?

I am double majoring in Business and Economics.

Roxanne, tell us about some of your favorite professors.

I have had some great experiences with all my professors but the one that stand out the most is Professor Linda LoPresti, Associate Professor of Business. She always takes the time out to get to know students on both a personal and academic level.

If someone were to ask you ‘should they go to CNR?’ what reason would you give them to make The College of New Rochelle their college?

The College of New Rochelle is a very nurturing atmosphere. They are so many resources available on campus that enables you to grow as individual. There is a strong sense of pride and community throughout the campus. At CNR you can really focus on your studies without being distracted. Your professors really want to see you succeed and take an active role in helping you earn your degree.

What clubs or organizations are you involved with as a student?

I am currently Ms. Brescia Hall, a Resident Assistant, and Corresponding Secretary and member of Black Ice, the CNR Step Team.

Do you go into New York City often?

I am always going into New York City. It’s so easy to just jump on the Metro North and go into Manhattan during the day or for a concert at night.

Do you have a job on campus?

Yes, I work in the Office of Student Development and Programs and the Office of Student Services. I want to work on campus so I can focus all of my time and attention on CNR and my classes.

When do you graduate?

May 2006

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation I plan on attending graduate school outside of New York State.
