“The
College of New Rochelle’s School of New Resources was THE BIG THING
that facilitated my turning my life around. I still remember clearly
the receipt of my bachelor’s degree. It was a real sheepskin. As I
looked
at it, I said to myself ‘Wow,
I’m really a college graduate. I never
have to fall again.’ And I never did. ”

Rob Carmona
is the founding Executive Director and President of STRIVE
International. Under his stewardship, the organization has grown from a
community-based organization to an international service network with
18 U.S. cities as well as sites in England and Puerto Rico. Prior to
his tenure with STRIVE, he held senior executive positions at a number
of non-profit organizations in the New York City area: Court Employment
Project, Downstate Medical Center, Greater New York Fund/United Way,
City Volunteer Corps, and Wildcat Service Corporation. Rob is a 1982
graduate of Columbia University School of Social Work and a 1979
graduate of The College of New Rochelle. Rob leads by powerful personal
example. A former substance abuser and ex-offender, he reminds each new
class of STRIVE participants that personal choices impact our lives
more than any other dynamic. Rob’s primary focus is on both national
and international site replications, strategic planning at STRIVE’s
headquarters and national fund development for Stateside affiliates. He
continues to make presentations to STRIVE classes, giving new initiates
a taste of what a commitment to STRIVE entails. He has been married for
23 years to Christina Carmona and they have two daughters and a
granddaughter.
