Gloria
Murray is the sole owner and provider at Mercy Midwives Women's
Health Center and has safely delivering over 6,000 babies during her
25-year career.
She started her career as a midwife in her
hometown of Georgetown, Guyana in South America. In 1977, she
immigrated to the United States (Bronx, NY) and enrolled in Bronx
Community College. She received her degree and went on to further her
education at Mercy College and The College of New Rochelle.
In 1996, she received both my Certified
Nurse Midwife and Master's in Midwifery degrees from SUNY Downstate
Medical Center. Three years later, she opened Mercy Midwives Women's
Health Center in conjunction with Mercy OB/GYN P.C.
In 2002, she was recognized for outstanding
community service and great care by the Office of the Borough
President, Fernando Ferrer, State Senator Ruth Hassel Thompson and
Assemblyman Carl E. Heastie.
Her office is affiliated with Our Lady of
Mercy Medical Center and St. Barnabus Hospital. She has also
worked at St. Agnes Hospital, Sound Shore Medical Center and Greenburgh
Health Center with teams of physicians, nurse midwives and
administrators.
