Where are you from, Lynette?

I was born in New York City and have been in the City all of my life.

Do you have a family?

Yes, I’m married and have a family. They are very supportive of my attending college to earn my degree and achieve my goals.

How did you first hear about CNR and the School of New Resources?

I passed by the Co-op City Campus while riding on the bus and decided I should check it out.

Did you consider attending other colleges?

Yes I did. I looked into going to Monroe College and also visited Lehman College.  I decided on CNR because I live close to the Co-op City Campus where I would take my classes.

Why did you decide to return to school?

Well, basically I decided to get my college degree because that would help me on way to a better career.

What is your major?

My major is communications and I am interested in a career in public relations, or perhaps teaching.

Do you have any favorite professors?

Frankly, all the professors that I have had so far have left a positive impression on me. Professor Pearl Sullivan, Coordinator of Retention, was my instructor for Experience, Learning and Identity class. She is both my mentor and my inspiration. Professor Susan Winson instructed me in the use of the library as a research tool and also in translating my experience into an essay. She started me on my way to critically analyzing the world around me. Also Professor Yvonne Hall, my instructor for Science and Human Values, gave me the tools to be more informed about doctors, health care, and a patient’s bill of rights.

Do you work on campus?

Yes, I am currently working at the Co-op City Campus library as a study aide.

What are your career plans?

Well, after I graduate I want to continue on to graduate school and earn a master's degree in communications.

When will you graduate?

I expect to graduate in the spring of 2008.
