What class was one of your favorites?
One
of my favorite classes was Bridging Cultures. In traveling to Puerto
Rico, I was able to learn more about my culture and island. Although I
already knew a good amount of information about Puerto Rico’s history
and culture I got to learn even more. Going to Puerto Rico with the
class even made me look at the island from a different perspective. I
became more aware of the politics, the people, and the social issues.

Of
all the CNR professors you’ve had, who was one of your favorites?
I actually have two professors that have
made a great impact on me. One is Dr. Daniel Garcia and the other is
Dr. Nereida Segura-Rico. As Hispanic professors, they both understand
the importance and richness of the Latin-American and Caribbean culture
and have taught me so much about it. They are passionate about their
work and inspire me to be just as passionate and motivated to learn
more and even become proactive in helping the Latin-American/Caribbean
society.

Do
you know where you are headed after graduation?
I would like to work for the anti-human
trafficking department of the FBI or work for some part of the
government in Puerto Rico that concentrates on social change. Before
deciding on a career, I would like to intern in the field for about a
year then go to graduate school to earn my master’s.
