RENOWNED PHILOSOPHER MAXINE GREENE
NEW ROCHELLE, NY, October 30, 2008 -- The College of
New Rochelle’s (CNR) will host a lecture by the eminent philosopher of
aesthetic education Maxine Greene,
who will speak on “Wellness: Windows of the Imagination.”
Sponsored by CNR’s Council of Faculty in collaboration with The Lincoln
Center Institute for the Arts in Education, the event will take place
at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2008, in the College’s new
Wellness Center, Room 203-204, on the Main Campus in New
Rochelle. A reception will follow immediately afterward. The

Dr. Greene, who has been
referred to as “the most important American philosopher on education
since John Dewey,” is the founder of the Maxine Greene Foundation for
Social Imagination, the Arts, and Education. She is also Philosopher in
Residence of the Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education and
the William F. Russell Professor in the Foundations of Education
(emerita) at Teachers College.
CNR’s new Wellness Center,
opened in spring 2008, is a state-of-the-art facility that promotes a
holistic approach to health and learning by combining educational
programs and health seminars, wellness initiatives and community
outreach.
