NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLYMAN VISITS CNR TO RAISE
AWARENESS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

NEW ROCHELLE, NY, October 19, 2006 – Today, for the second consecutive year, New York State Assemblyman George Latimer visited The College of New Rochelle’s Main Campus to help raise awareness of domestic violence; October is the Domestic Violence Awareness Month nationwide.  CNR’S Campus Ministry and Student Services departments are collaborating to support the domestic violence awareness efforts of the New York State Legislature, as well as to learn how to effect changes to human trafficking laws and advocate for peace and justice issues.  Assemblyman Latimer is also co-sponsoring a state-wide bill against human trafficking.  At 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, Campus Ministry and CNR’s Pax Christi chapter, Peacebuilders, will co-sponsor an event entitled “Stuck in Traffick” to educate the community and advocate for enslaved people throughout the world.
