CNR STUDENTS “SLEEP OUT”
IN SUPPORT OF THE HOMELESS
NEW ROCHELLE, NY, October 3, 2008 – Students, faculty
and staff of The College of New Rochelle (CNR) will stage a “SLEEP OUT”
in support of the homeless on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, beginning at
7:00 p.m., on Maura Lawn on the Main Campus in New Rochelle. The
purpose of the event, sponsored by the Office of Campus Ministry, is to
educate participants about the plight of the homeless. This, the third
such event at CNR, will feature Dale Williams, Executive Director of
the Midnight Run Program, who will recount his experiences as a
homeless person.
After sharing a typical Midnight Run meal, participants
will spend the night outdoors on Maura Lawn, sleeping in cardboard
boxes. The following morning, all will be invited to share breakfast
and reflections on the experience and encouraged to contact legislators
about issues surrounding homelessness.
“All we ask is an open mind, a willing heart and the
determination to make a difference,” says Helen Wolf, Director of
Campus Ministry.
The “Sleep Out” is open to CNR students, faculty and
staff. Press is invited to attend.
