STUDENT DRAMA GROUP TO OFFER FIRST AREA PRODUCTION

ROCHELLE, NY, September 6, 2006 --
The College of New Rochelle today announced that CNR Drama, a college
drama group, will perform Contact from
November 10 to November 19. It will be the
first area production of Susan Stroman’s Tony-winning “best musical”
departed Lincoln Center in 2002. All shows will take
place in Romita Auditorium
on CNR’s Main Campus located at 29 Castle Place, New

multi-talented Ms. Stroman, known for her award winning direction and
choreography of The Producers,
The Music Man, and others, won international praise for Contact, reaping multiple Tony,
Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League awards in 2000.
a book by John Weidman, the musical tells three stories of love – one
sensual (Swinging), another of unrequited longing
(Did You Move?), and the third (Contact), a dreamscape of loneliness
rebirth – told almost entirely through dance.
The cast is an ensemble of dancers who act and actors who dance,
to music as varied as 19th century ballet, 1940’s big band, and Robert
Palmer’s aptly named “Simply Irresistible.”
Contact is staged by Tome’ Cousin,
who was a
member of the original cast during its entire run on Broadway. Check

production as “The Dramatic Society”
was Tennyson’s The Princess
