THE COLLEGE OF NEW ROCHELLE TO HOST PHOTO EXHIBIT ON INDIA

New Rochelle, NY, July 11, 2006 -- A solo exhibit by Kelly Clark entitled “A Photographic Journey of India" will officially usher in The College of New Rochelle’s (CNR) fall 2006 season in the Mooney Center Exhibit Hall. It will be on display from August 31 through September 25. A reception will take place September 9 from 2:00-4:00 pm.

A Nyack-based artist, freelance photographer, and art teacher, Ms. Clark had the good fortune to visit India during Christmas 2005. Soon after arriving, Ms. Clark quickly realized that India was a photographer’s dream and set out to capture the unique essence and vitality of life of this enormous and diverse country through her lens.

“A Photographic Journey of India” will feature 20 photos that depict life in India. The Taj Mahal, the people of India, and the urban landscape are some of the subjects that will be spotlighted. Ms. Clark’s photographic work of people and places are at once classic and contemporary. In a gesture meant to give back to the country that has helped her see the beauty of life, Ms. Clark intends to donate a portion of all sales from this exhibit to the Christian Children’s Fund for their charitable programs in India.

A graduate of the Graduate School at CNR with a master’s degree in art education, Ms. Clark also has advanced degrees in photography and painting from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She has participated in many group exhibitions which have taken place at the Albany Center Galleries (Albany, NY), Iona College (New Rochelle, NY), Unison Art Center (New Paltz, NY), St. Cabrini Gallery (Dobbs Ferry, NY), and Barrett Art Center (Poughkeepsie, NY). “A Photographic Journey of India” is Ms. Clark’s first significant one-person show.
This exhibit is appropriate for children of all ages. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
