THE COLLEGE OF NEW ROCHELLE TO OFFER SUMMER
ART PORTFOLIO WORKSHOP FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

NEW ROCHELLE, NY, March 29, 2006 -– For the third consecutive year, the Art Department in the School of Arts & Sciences (SAS) at The College of New Rochelle (CNR) will offer an intense summer art workshop for high school students (sophomores, juniors, seniors and recent graduates). Designed for those who want to develop a strong college admissions portfolio, the workshop will teach students how to: improve their studio art skills in drawing, painting and sculpture; develop a theme for a series; address issues related to studying art and design in college; and prepare for a career in visual arts. Homework assignments will be challenging and assigned on a regular basis.

The entire workshop will take place at the College’s main campus in New Rochelle from June 26 through July 19 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9 am to 12 noon. (No classes are scheduled on July 3 and 4.) Tuition is $375 per student and is due in full by June 21. (Early bird discount: $300 if paid in full by June 1.) All tuition must be prepaid before the first class begins. Students provide their own art supplies. A list of required and recommended materials will be handed out on the first day of class; expenses will not exceed $75. No refunds will be given once the workshop begins.

Space is limited and enrollment is on a “first come first serve” basis. The registration deadline is Wednesday, June 21. To download a registration form, click here. If you have further questions, please contact Margie Neuhaus, Associate Professor of Art, at (914) 654-5504 or mneuhaus@cnr.edu.
