CNR STUDENTS
PARTICIPATE IN
FOCUS THE NATION’S
GREEN TORCH RELAY TO ALBANY
Students
from area colleges invite New York’s elected leaders
to discussion on
climate change solutions
On
October 26, six students from The College of New Rochelle joined
students from Bard and Vassar as part of a three-college Green Torch
Relay team that walked, ran and biked to Albany for Focus The Nation’s
Green Torch Relay.
On January 31, 2008, CNR will join the more than
1,000 universities and colleges from all 50 states participating in
Focus The Nation, an unprecedented educational initiative on
global warming solutions for America. As the largest teach-in in U.S.
history, Focus The Nation is preparing hundreds of thousands of
students to become leaders in the largest civilizational challenge any
generation has faced.
The Green Torch Relay team delivered invitations
to New York’s elected leaders in Albany asking them to participate in
Focus The Nation’s discussion on global warming solutions at their
colleges. The CNR invitation included approximately 500 signatures.
In Albany, the students presented the invitation
to government representatives, including Paul Beyer, Special Assistant
for the Environment, who accepted the invitation to CNR’s conference on
behalf of Governor Eliot Spitzer.
