As
Commencement 2005
approaches, graduating students
in all four Schools have posed questions
regarding the ceremony. Following are the questions most often
asked and answers from
the Office of Academic Affairs:
Can
I
participate in commencement if I have not applied for graduation?
No. Call your Dean’s office for
further instructions.
How
many people may
I invite?
You will receive
three invitations and three announcements. Each student may receive up
to three seating tickets.
Can
a member of my
family get into Radio City without a seating ticket?
No. There are
no exceptions.
Where
do I pick up
invitations, announcements and seating tickets?

Are
there facilities for the disabled?
How
do I get to
Radio City?
What
must I bring?
A picture I.D., Radio
City Pass, and academic regalia (robe, hood and cap).
When
must I get
there?
Graduates must arrive
by 9:30 a.m.
Where
do I go once I
get to Radio City?
Graduates will enter
through the 50th street or the 51st street entrances, just east of
6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas), depending on the line-up
location of your school or campus. (This entrance will be
indicated on your Radio City Pass.) You will line up in the Grand
Lounge, located downstairs from the Lobby.

my Radio City Pass?

Where
do I get my
academic regalia?
At the College Store
in the Student Campus Center, Main Campus.
What
must I leave at
home (or with my family)?
Leave all personal effects that you
cannot reasonably carry under your robe. There is no coat or
baggage check, nor is there a secure place to leave your belongings
during the ceremony.
Where
does my family
go?
They may line up as early as they wish
outside of the main entrance of Radio City Music Hall, 6th Avenue
(Avenue of the Americas) between 50th and 51st streets.
When
can my family
enter Radio City?
Doors open at 10 a.m. No one will
gain access to the building unless he or she has a seating
ticket.
What
restrictions
are in effect for my family members?
No balloons, food, or beverages (except
water) are allowed. No one will be allowed to stand in the aisles
to take photos. Please advise your family that security at Radio
City is strict. Bags may be inspected and metal detector wands
may be used upon entry.
How
long will the
commencement exercises take?
About two hours.
How
do I get my diploma?
If you have no outstanding financial obligations, you
may obtain your diploma any time after the Commencement exercises at
the Office of the Registrar, Administration Center, ground floor, on
the Main Campus in New Rochelle. If you prefer, you may have the
diploma mailed to you at a cost of $5 postage or, if you are a School
of New Resources graduate, you may have your diploma sent to your
campus at no charge. Simply contact the Registrar’s office at
(914) 654-5213.
The Registrar’s Office is open daily from 9am-6pm from
Monday-Thursday, and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Friday. The exceptions
are Friday, May 27 (day after Commencement), Monday, May 30 (Memorial
Day), and Monday, July 4 (Independence
Day), when the office will be closed.
