CNR’S 67TH ANNUAL
ALUMNAE/I COLLEGE WEEKEND
SPOTLIGHTS WELLNESS
IN THE 21ST CENTURY
Approximately 500 graduates
of CNR returned for another reunion weekend of fun and remembrance in
June. CNR’s 67th
annual Alumnae/i College
Weekend focused on wellness in the 21st century. According to Eileen
Niedzwiecki SAS ’72, Director of Alumnae/i Relations, “as health care
consumers, each of us has a personal stake in a holistic approach to a
healthy
mind, body, and spirit. As CNR graduates, we already appreciate the
commitment
to caring for the whole person.”
In
response to the weekend
theme of wellness, the School
of Nursing presented a
panel
on “Caring in
Health Care” discussing how nursing schools can prepare nurses to
transform
hostile service settings into those that emphasize a caring philosophy.
Panelists included Donna Demarest, R.N., Ed.D., Dean of the School
of Nursing and a 1971
graduate of
the School of Arts & Sciences, Associate Professor Margot DeSevo,
R.N.C., Ph.D., and
Associate Professor Mary Alice Donius, R.N., Ed.D.
During the course of the
weekend returning alumnae/i attended a special presentation by CNR
Drama entitled One Night Only
(a musical and dramatic review of the 2004-2005 season), participated
in holistic modalities,
attended
art exhibitions, enjoyed class year teas, and dinner and dancing
to
orchestra music under a giant tent on Maura Lawn.
More than
33 alumnae were presented with Ursula
Laurus, Angela
Merici, and Women of Achievement Awards by President Sweeny in Holy
Family
Chapel.
And, the College’s
Castle Gallery
celebrated 25 years of dedication to the arts and education with
gallery
director Jennifer Zazo leading a guided tour of the main campus to
demonstrate
how the arts have extended beyond the gallery walls.
